We have also learned about how writers have a special place to collect their thoughts ideas and stories. We have been "busy with the important work of spinning threads of gold in our writing." I love these kids! There will be lots more to come, and please remember to join us Monday night for BES Preview to learn a little bit more about third grade. I look forward to seeing you then. Hope you all have a great weekend.

PS I almost forgot. I am sure you have heard by now about the ice bucket challenge from your learner. I was challenged to participate in the ALS ice bucket challenge. As a class we are learning each day about ways that we can change the world. Ways that we can make it a better place. Often times children feel that they are too little and the world is too big for them to make any kind of difference. What I love most about this challenge is not just that it raises money for a great cause, but more than anything, it raises awareness. Our kids might be small, but just by spreading awareness of any cause is an easy way for them to make a difference. After all they will one day be the doctors, nurses, researchers, scientist, public officials or super stars that might one day bring awareness or even find a cure for this or any other disease. My passionate cause is Pediatric Cancer Awareness, so be on the look out in September, I'm going GOLD!!! But for now I'll leave you with this...My ice bucket challenge. The mass screams are the kids cheering us on, but don't get me wrong, it was COLD.
