This has been a short, but busy week. Be sure to ask your historian about our visitor "Uncle Jack" that came and presented to us on the Battle of Kings Mountain on Wednesday.
ELA
We are continuing to look at characterization in fiction texts. We are also studying pronouns and the long o patterns in words. We have finished our writing unit on non-fiction. We will be beginning our persuasive writing unit next week.
Math
We have started chapter 8, applying multiplication and division strategies. We have also begun our weekly timed fact test. At this point your mathematician should know his/her 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10's by memory and should be able to complete 60 problems in 5 minutes. Next week we will be adding the 4's to the facts we should have memorized. Please help your mathematician make flash cards at home to study these facts.
Social Studies
We have just finished Chapter 5 on the American Revolution. We will begin Chapter 6 next week. The study guide has already been loaded to the blog.
Science
We are finishing up Rocks and Minerals next week and the test will be tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, February 2. The study guide for that will go home next Thursday.
Notes
Report cards go home today, please sign and return the cover only next week.
Dr. Doug field trip money is due next Friday.
Have a great weekend and stay warm.
